Terminal sessions

Open a computer shell from the phone, send commands and distinguish detaching from closing.

Ophio isn’t released yet. These docs describe the development version; app downloads are not available.

Control → Terminals lists shell sessions opened by this device. Terminal access is a separate device permission. Other paired devices cannot list, read or attach to your sessions.

Open a shell

Tap New, review Open a new terminal, then tap Open new terminal. It starts a shell on the selected computer, in the selected project’s folder or the computer’s default directory.

This is a real shell running as the computer’s user. Commands can change files, use credentials and start programs. Coding-task launch flags do not restrict commands you enter here.

Type and use keys

Text mode lets you edit Command before sending a line with Send line. On compact screens the mode is labeled Text.

Key mode, or Keys on compact screens, sends keyboard input to the running program. The key controls include Esc, Tab, Ctrl+C, Ctrl+Z, arrow keys, Enter and Backspace. Interrupting a program with Ctrl+C is not the same as closing its shell or stopping a separate Ophio task.

Review multiline paste before confirming it. Pasted lines can execute commands. The confirmation names the terminal receiving them.

Scroll back to read earlier output. Jump to latest returns to current output. Copy selection copies selected text where the device supports it. Font controls change terminal text size on the phone.

Agent programs in a terminal

Hermes, OpenClaw and other installed command-line tools can run here as ordinary terminal programs. That does not give them native Ophio task approvals or structured receipts. Check their own prompts and process state.

If Keep Claude Code and Codex up to date is enabled, new Ophio terminals use its selected managed copies on PATH. Existing tasks keep their running version. Your system installations and sign-ins are not replaced; see Updating & rollback.

Detach or close

Detach, navigating back or closing the view leaves the shell and its programs running. Use Attach again to reconnect. Losing the network does not mean those programs stopped.

Close terminal opens a confirmation for the named session. Closing ends its running programs. Their process state cannot be restored. Files already written remain. Check the reported result rather than assuming a sent close request succeeded.

Ended sessions can show retained output. Removing one from the phone’s list is not file deletion.

Revoking the owning device ends its terminal sessions. Ophio does not offer another phone a way to take ownership of them.
