Projects & branches

Register computer folders, choose a branch for a task and record project stages.

Ophio isn’t released yet. These docs describe the development version; app downloads are not available.

A project is a folder registered with Ophio on one computer. It can be a Git repository, but Git is not required. Registering it leaves its files in place.

Add a project

  1. Open Work, then Project settings → Add project.
  2. Browse the computer’s folders under Locations. These are not folders on the phone.
  3. Open a folder and tap Select this folder, or select several folder checkboxes.
  4. Tap the review button. For two folders it reads Review selection (2).
  5. Check the folders, then tap Add 2 projects, or the matching count.

Adding does not start a task. New project queues start paused. A parent folder does not automatically register projects inside it. Select those folders separately.

Filter folders contains Find a folder here and Show hidden folders. Select folders on this page selects eligible folders on the current page, not every page. Use Next folders for more results and First page to return. Add up to 100 selected folders at once.

If browsing is unavailable, choose Enter a path instead. Enter Folder on computer and, optionally, Project name (optional), then tap Add project.

Browsing, adding, removing and changing project settings require Manage access permission. Private Ophio storage, a home folder itself and whole disks cannot be projects. Folder symlinks and junctions are omitted from browsing.

Bulk additions run one at a time. Closing the view or losing the connection stops the remaining additions. A request already sent can still finish. Check the project list before retrying an uncertain addition.

Switch and manage projects

Tap the project name in Work’s header to open the project selector. It separates Projects from One-offs. Unread result markers identify projects with results you have not opened. Each computer has its own list.

In Project settings, Defaults for new tasks saves Agent, Model and Effort with Save defaults. It does not save launch permission flags. Those are phone defaults or task choices.

The remove action includes the project name, for example Remove garden-api…. Removal unregisters the project. It keeps its files and task history.

Choose a Git branch

In a new task’s review, open Where → Branch. All branches adds no branch instruction. The list reads the computer’s local branches, most recently committed first. It identifies the checked-out branch and any uncommitted changes. It lists up to 200 branches. Longer lists offer Find a branch.

Select a listed branch, or choose New branch, enter Branch name and tap Use new branch. Selecting a branch tells the agent where to work. Ophio does not check it out itself. The agent is instructed to create a new branch when Work starts, from the then-checked-out state, before editing files. Uncommitted changes can follow it. Check those changes before starting.

Ask and Plan cannot create a branch. A Plan can retain the branch instruction for when you carry it out as Work. The selected branch remains with continuations, retries and inherited queued work. Start a new task to choose another branch.

An older companion that cannot retain a branch instruction must be updated. Ophio will not silently start without it.

For pull-request branch behavior, see GitHub work.

Record a stage

Open Project settings → Project stages. Stages shows the current decision and its history. Tap Change stage, select a stage, add Note (optional) if needed, then Review stage and Confirm stage change.

A stage is your recorded decision. Agent results do not move it automatically. A stage change starts no work, grants no permissions and releases or publishes nothing. Moving back to an earlier stage is recorded too. If a result is uncertain, use Check result rather than sending a second change.

Work without a registered project

A launcher can start On its own. Ophio creates a separate one-off folder and lists it under One-offs. Its settings offer Open its folder in Library, Make it a project to register it as an ordinary project, and Delete it… to delete it and its folder from the computer.
